Advertising at a Vienna train station: what does one day at Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof cost?

What does advertising at Vienna's Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof cost a small business? Four worked examples, from a single day to all of Advent, with advertising tax and no minimum term.

In short: Yes, a small business can advertise at Vienna's Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof, and one day is enough. One spot on the 75-inch screen at Julius-Tandler-Platz 10 costs €9.00 net per day, €9.45 including the 5% Austrian advertising tax (Werbeabgabe), plus VAT. For that, your 10-second ad runs 480 times a day on paper, between 6 am and 10 pm.

Search for "advertising train station Vienna" and you mostly find product catalogues, categories and contact forms. A price for a single day is rare. Here is the small version: one screen, one spot, one price you see before you pay. Prices come from our booking system as of 28 September 2026.

Can a small business advertise at a train station in Vienna?

Yes. You book the screen at Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof online with adyoutiser, without a quote and without a minimum term. The minimum order is €2, and one day is enough.

You don't need an agency or a sales call. Pick the dates, upload your ad and pay. No PDF pretending to be a media plan. The booking step shows the price line by line before you pay.

Where is the screen, and who walks past?

The screen is indoors at Julius-Tandler-Platz 10 in Vienna's 9th district, right at Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof. Most people passing are commuters from S-Bahn and regional trains, plus students and people working in Alsergrund.

The Franz-Josefs-Bahn connects Vienna with Klosterneuburg, Tulln and Krems. People here often pass at the same time every workday. For advertising, that means the same people see your ad on several days. More on this audience in Commuters in Vienna.

About the ~43,000: it is a modelled estimate of how many people pass the site. It is not a count, and it is not the number of people who see your ad. Not everyone looks, and your ad only runs in your part of the loop.

What does advertising at Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof cost?

One spot in the loop costs €9.00 net per day. Add 5% advertising tax and then VAT. From €100 net, we currently deduct a 3% volume discount automatically.

This is how checkout calculates, in this order:

  1. Daily price times days
  2. minus 3% volume discount once the total reaches €100 net
  3. plus 5% advertising tax on the net amount, as described by the Austrian business service portal
  4. plus VAT, depending on your company

Four examples:

1 week7 × €9.00€63.00€3.15€66.15

Station plus Josefstädter Straße 99, 14 days14 × €18.00 = €252.00, minus 3%€244.44€12.22€256.66

The screen at Josefstädter Straße 99 in the 8th district also costs €9.00 per spot and day. The combination fits if your shop sits between the two sites or your customers live in the 8th and 9th districts.

More budget examples for all of Vienna are in Advertising for my shop in Vienna: €100, €300, €1,000. An overview of all prices is at DOOH advertising costs.

How often does my ad run?

480 times a day on paper. The loop has 12 spots of 10 seconds, so it lasts 2 minutes. Your spot comes up 30 times an hour, for 16 hours.

That is one twelfth of the airtime: 10 seconds in every 2 minutes. You buy a share of airtime, not a fixed number of plays and not reach.

An honest difference to other screens in the network: this screen is run by the site partner through their own system. They load your file themselves, hence the 24-hour lead time. We cannot count every single play there. You get the date on which the operator confirmed the upload, plus modelled contacts marked with "~". On screens running our own player, such as the Danube pier, we count every play individually. The map shows which screen is which type before you buy.

Which ad works at a train station?

One that people understand while walking. At a station, people are on the move. Your ad gets a glance, not a reading break.

  • Portrait. The screen is upright. Deliver 1080 × 1920 pixels, i.e. 9:16.
  • 10 seconds. An image or a video of exactly that length. There is no sound.
  • One message. "Breakfast from 7 am" beats "Café, bakery, lunch, catering".
  • The way. Name the street or the way from the station to you. People who pass every day don't need directions, just a reason.
  • Large type. If you'd need your phone to read it, nobody reads it on a screen.
  • A code instead of a long link. A voucher code or a QR code with its own link shows you later what the ad brought in. How to set that up properly: UTM and QR tracking.

Every ad is reviewed before it starts, first by AI, by a person where needed. So don't upload it the evening before.

Who is Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof worth it for?

For anyone whose customers pass here every day. Mainly businesses in Alsergrund and offers people use on the way to or from work.

  • Café, bakery or lunch spot within walking distance
  • Gym, yoga or Pilates studio with classes before or after work
  • Optician, physiotherapy or medical practice in the 9th district. Health professions have their own advertising rules, check them before designing your ad.
  • Courses and training with sign-up, for example language courses
  • Events in Alsergrund with a fixed date

The site fits less well if your customers are mostly out at weekends or your business is far from the 9th district. Then check the map for which of the 16 Vienna screens is closer. An overview is at DOOH advertising in Vienna.

How do you book the screen?

Four steps, no sales call.

  1. Pick the dates. Allow 24 hours of lead time, because the operator loads your file themselves.
  2. Pick the screen. On the map, select the screen at Julius-Tandler-Platz 10 and one spot in the loop.
  3. Upload your ad. Portrait, 10 seconds. If you don't have one yet, add it later.
  4. Review and pay. Subtotal, volume discount, advertising tax and VAT appear as separate lines. Payment is online.

Ready-made bundles with several sites are under Packages.
