The specs that actually matter.
Hand this table to your designer or freelancer. These are the real specs of our screens. Anything outside them is rejected — usually by the AI moderator within seconds, sometimes by manual review within a few hours.
| Spec | Value | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Format | MP4 (H.264) · MOV · JPG · PNG · WebP | Video: MP4 with H.264 is the safe bet; MOV, WebM and AVI are also accepted and transcoded to 1080p H.264. Images: JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF. No HEVC video. |
| Resolution | Video 1080×1920 · Image up to 2160×3840 | 9:16 portrait. Video tops out at 1080p — the players reject 4K video. Still images can go up to 2160×3840 (our panels are native 4K) for crisp type. The one exception is our 4:1 LED wall (1344×336). No 1:1 or 16:9 screens — never deliver landscape. |
| Duration | 10 s per slot · 3–60 s accepted | One rotation slot is 10 seconds — build for 10s. The system accepts 3 to 60 seconds, but a 10s creative is what fits one clean slot in the loop. |
| File size | Image 20 MB · Video 200 MB | Hard caps, tested at upload. Stills max 20 MB. Video source max 200 MB — we downsample to 1080p H.264 after upload, so a typical 10s clip ends up 5–15 MB on screen. |
| Audio | Always muted | All public screens play silent. Audio tracks in your video file are ignored. Do not pay for sound design or voice-over. |
Four rules that turn 'meh' into 'people stop walking'.
We have moderated several thousand DOOH creatives. The four rules below separate creatives that get noticed from creatives that blend into the wallpaper.
- One message, full screen. — Pick one product, one offer, one verb. "Coffee, €2.50, around the corner" beats six bullet points every time. The viewer has 2 seconds before they walk past — do not waste them with a feature list.
- Big type. Bigger than you think. — Headline at 200 px minimum, body at 80 px minimum. Anything smaller is unreadable from 5 metres away. Test by scaling your design to 30% on a phone and reading it at arm's length.
- High contrast or bust. — Daylight on a screen at the Donau terminal kills 30% of your contrast. Black on white, white on dark navy, or dark text on yellow all survive. Pastel-on-pastel disappears.
- Static is fine. Often better. — A single still image often outperforms a 10s video because the message is on screen the whole time. Only animate if the motion adds meaning — "price drops in" beats "logo wiggles for fun".
Three things designers get wrong every time.
- "I'll just use my Instagram Story." — Instagram Story is 1080×1920 — same canvas. But IG type is read on a 6" phone held in your hand. DOOH is read at 3-5 metres. Your IG type is 3× too small. Scale up.
- "Sound will get attention." — Every public DOOH screen on our network is muted. There is no exception. If your creative depends on a voice-over or jingle, redesign for visual-only.
- "More slides, more story." — You have 10 seconds. Two slides means each slide gets 5s. The viewer is walking past in 2-3s. They will see exactly one slide. Pick the most important one and put everything on it.
